Internet of Things – endiio radio module certified: Breakthrough in ultra low power communication technology with real time capability

INNSBRUCK/FREIBURG, 8th March 2017. Digitalisation in industry and production is making strides – none of it would be possible without sensors, intelligent networking and data evaluation. The endiio start-up provides real time low power radio sensor networks for the Internet of Things (IoT). The company has now been awarded certification for Europe in accordance with ETSI EN 300.220 for its radio module. From the second quarter of 2017, the new technology will be available for the first time. The endiio solution is up to 10,000 times more economical than all conventional communication solutions, such as Bluetooth Low Energy, ZigBee or WLAN, thanks to a completely new wireless technology in real time mode. The endiio radio module is a certified IoT solution for OEM systems and is also available as part of the endiio Evaluation Board.

In addition to a gateway, the certified radio module includes a customisable software and sample projects that allow developers and OEMs to quickly and easily integrate real time communication capabilities into their applications – whether in production, automation or safety engineering – and without programming knowledge. In the patented wake up on demand endiio radio technology, sensors are in an energy-saving deep sleep, but can be woken up at any time and then retrieve data in real time. As a result, each sensor node acts as a router. This means that large energy-saving and self-configuring mesh networks, as well as IoT systems, can be implemented without great expense and with just a little hardware. The technology sets new standards at the sensor maintenance intervals, and the robustness required can therefore be achieved with sophisticated sensor networks. The endiio radio module is part of a modular system for implementing multifaceted IoT applications. It enables fast and cost-effective integration of the endiio technology into various products and solutions, whether it is intelligent goods carriers for production or maintenance-free smoke detectors in building automation. Endiio provides an IoT solution from a single source – from the radio module to the cloud. This allows developers, OEMs and users to quickly implement various applications where economy, availability, security, robustness and system simplicity are paramount.
The endiio Evaluation Board with integrated radio module allows developers and OEMs to build test systems quickly and easily, so that these can be used as a platform for their applications. The endiio IoT platform already supports sensors from AMS, Bosch, B+B and Sensirion in the very rapidly growing endiio sensor library. The radio module and Evaluation Board are easy to configure using the endiio Gateway and can be put into operation quickly. In addition, the Gateway provides a development environment with the Python programming language, which allows users to very easily create new applications. Endiio is partnering with developers and OEMs to implement new IoT solutions in order to improve existing solutions and bring cost-effective and innovative products to market as quickly as possible. The focal sectors for endiio are industry and automation. Energy self-sufficient monitoring sensors can also be implemented in building automation and for use in safety technology. The technology meets the requirements of miniaturised dimensions and robust communication for automation purposes.
